At the tender age of 13, DJ Young 1 is one of the hottest DJ’s in LA. A traditional turntablist who is inspired by many genres, including old school Hip-Hop, Top 40 Pop, Reggae, EDM and House music, DJ Young 1 puts on quite a show to get people moving to the music. She credits such great LA DJ’s such as Mr. Choc and DJ Hapa for her skill as she is the youngest graduate of Jam Master Jay’s Scratch DJ Academy in Los Angeles. DJ Young 1 has already made several high-profile appearances, including the San Francisco Supper Club, The Human Rights Campaign Galas, The Grammy® Awards Gifting Suite, The BET Experience and a spotlight on the Queen Latifah Show. She’s also made cameo appearances in music videos, Tonight by Jessica Sanchez featuring Ne-Yo, Cravin by MC Lyte, and competed on the NBC reality competition America’s Got Talent Season 8. Her highest honor was spinning as a guest DJ for the 2014 White House Easter Egg Roll where she put on quite a show to get people dancing, which was a perfect showcase for First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Initiative!
As the youngest Stanton endorsed artist, DJ Young 1’s musical influence dates back to her mom playing jazz and old school hip-hop throughout her pregnancy. DJ Young 1 credits classic artists such as Charlie Parker, The Ohio Players, Grandmaster Flash, Jam Master Jay and Run D.M.C. for her talent and inspiration.
Joined by the most talented DJ’s in Los Angeles, Young 1 has also been added as the youngest iHeart Radio DJ for Real 92.3 FM Mix Mob in Los Angeles. To add, she was one of the featured DJ’s to perform for a sold out crowd at the Los Angeles Forum for the REAL Show highlighting such artists as Kendrick Lamar, Future & Drake to name a few. She also shares her talent spinning at various events across the country.
